Introduction
A lot of people talk about the “American Dream”, which immigrants come to the United States to proceed that so call “Dream”, but what they don't know coming here to America is an education for them can be for a while. Immigrants are not here to harm but to be better a better person and succeed in life just like others. They want to study, they want to be big in life and most just want to make their parents and themselves proud. It has been difficult for most immigrants because they come to the the United States thinking its a world that would accept them and give them an education that they couldn't have where they came from. The United States should realize that immigrants are not useless or just want take other peoples job, the immigrants just want to work as hard as most people do.
Fair Education
Immigrants can have a higher education from high school but in order to have that higher education and go to college, its a long process to get a student visa, a student visa is just what it sounds, a card to stay in the United States to study and succeed to who you want to be. “More than 1 million immigrant children without legal status reportedly live in the United States. Roughly 65,000 graduate from high school each year, but experts estimate that fewer than 6,500 go on to attend college.”(Usnews)Getting a student visa, is months of meeting with lawyers and paying money to stay and get educated, some families are lucky to have the money to pay a lawyer to help get a student visa but some are not so lucky and some don't get to go to college.
Immigrants don’t go to college but they try to do something to study, they work in order to try and get the student visa, but its not as easy as apply to colleges, its paying for a student visa and paying to apply to college. “Under the current system, children brought into the U.S. illegally are permitted to attend K-12 schools and enroll in college. But, in most states, they must pay out-of-state tuition if they can't prove they are citizens. They are also not eligible for federal financial aid, making college unaffordable for many students living in the country illegally.”(NJ)In some studies it has been said that some immigrants students don't try as hard through k-12 because they know they won't get anything higher than a high school diploma, there is no point of having dreams because they don't have money to afford college.
Pass The Law
There has been many programs trying to pass the law to have immigrants have the same education as citizens, but the law has not pass because so many people in america are scared of change because immigrants are going to take the jobs, take whatever else american say. People are scared of what would happen, but immigrants are not thinking of nothing else but trying to succeed in life like everyone else in life. “ some immigrant children do quite well in school, surpassing U.S.-born children in grades, standardized test scores, and attitudes toward education; other immigrant children tend to overlap with U.S.-born children, and yet others tend to achieve below their U.S.-born peers”(Hepg) There has even been studies show that immigrants want to study as much as other do, they try there hardest to make their parents proud, to show people they can make it if their was just a chance for them to prove it during college and showing what they can do. If only the United States pass the Reform, it would let families be in peace and not have people talking that immigrants coast money and taking jobs, instead of paying so much money sending them back where they from and breaking families they should spend the money helping and immigrants would certainly pay taxes just as other citizens.
The world is not a fair place but it should be fair to the people, not matter where they came from, because everyone deserves a chance of education not just from k-12 but to show in college what they have been shown all these years. Its not only fair that citizen can have dreams and a future and immigrants that have spent as much years as citizens and worked as hard to not have a dream and proceed to have a future. Everyone deserves a chance of education because everyone is just the same, human. http://vamosjuntos.org/fuerza/
